Need a new firewall cos NIS is pissing me off. Tried ZA but it didn't let me share files over my network. Any recommendations?

sorry only use NIS, not had any issues with it yet. zone alarm is well rated, what about the pro version or is that what you were using? should let you share over a network if you configure it

I use NIS 05 and have no problems with at alll, and I have a network.
To get the pc's to see each other you just need to open NIS and firewall optoins click networking tab and run the wizard, it finds the newtork adapters, do this on all m/c's reboot and then your cooking.

The network works fine with NIS but it's really annoying how you have no option other than installing NAV with it, even though it can be disabled. It's also a big nasty resource hog!

you need to set up a pc p3500 or bigger with three networkcards
voila you made a proxy !
BTW you need to set it up with a linux core to work but hey nobody hacked us yet and its only the freeware version....

after spending most of the weekend fecking about with NIS 2005 i concur that it is shite. too much bloat in it now, it gave me problems opening office files and playing some games. in the end i ended up reinstalling office and NIS 3 times
dont think i will be getting NIS 2006 next year

strange, how could they make it so different from NIS2004, which i've never had a single problem with?
