Fans of US TV will be able to download episodes of Lost, Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty as Apple launches its video downloads service in the UK.
Initially 28 series will be available with Apple promising more content soon.
There is currently little UK-produced content, although ITV, Channel 4 and the BBC all offer their own download catch-up TV services.
Unlike the BBC, Apple will charge iTunes customers ?1.89 per episode for their favourite shows.

Quite pricey for a TV episode.

?1.89 seems rather a lot for an episode when you could watch it on TV for free.
I suppose it's probably cheaper to buy a series over iTunes than it would be to buy the DVD, but as with CDs, it's always nicer to have the disc on your shelf

taking Lost as an example, season 3 was 22 episodes, at ?1.89 each that works out at ?41.58 - the dvd box set is ?44.99 and comes with buckets of extras - I know which one I'd rather have!
