An iPod can survive being dropped from a bike travelling at 25 MPH. It'll be wrecked. But it will still work. If you drop it at 30 MPH, though, it will cease to function and will completely fall apart.
Fortunately, I know this from "Secrets of the iPod" (book), as opposed to first hand experience

. I just thought it was interesting, and it's nice to know they have that sort of a budget.
The apple phone has been limited by Apple to hold only 100 songs, presumably so you will still have to buy an ipod as well. Grr. There's your usual "generic music player" on the phone as well as itunes, though, and that can play as many songs as your memory card will hold. Crazy.
When Motorola were asked why it was limited to only 100 songs, they just said "Ask Apple."
