sourceVirgin Media customers have lost access to some BSkyB channels after the deadline passed for the two companies to resolve a row over TV rights.
The broadcasters had until midnight on Wednesday to reach a deal which would have allowed cable company Virgin Media to continue showing basic Sky channels.
Virgin Media has accused BSkyB of raising its prices too much, but BSkyB has said the higher fees are justified.

read about this a week or so ago, I think it's a spot-on bit of business by Sky - all Virgin's customers now can't watch the immensely popular shows like Lost and 24, not to mention the equally popular SkySportsNews channel, so tell Virgin where to stick it and get Sky = Sky make more money than if they'd just sold the channels to Virgin
plus, the cable service in this country has always been shite anyway (due to the likes of NTL using second-rate set-top boxes imported from the States), so they get what they deserve
