Excel sheet in HTML

Post by 117 »

Is it possible to embed an Excel document in a basic HTML page so that the spreadsheet appears on the webpage? All the methods i've seen in google just result in the Excel file downloading rather than being viewed online

dont think you understand what i'm getting at arf - google's spreadsheet is an online spreadsheet that you can do what you like with, works like a blank excel document, what i want to do is display an already-created excel document in a webpage rather than the user having to download the file to view it

I remember playing around with an excel spreadsheet saved in a web document when i was supposed to be studying for my A-Level IT course. Maybe it was something to do with the course? Who knows.
It may be a case of using Frontpage to do it (which would mean whatever server would need frontpage extensions no doubt), or i may be talking out my arse, and haven't actually seen it done...
If i wasn't on 56k, or it wasn't 1am, i might look into this a bit more, but you're on your own ;)

don't know ed, i'm using OpenOffice.org Calc rather than Excel but I hadn't considered that option, will investibule

edit: YES! :D the chart contained 4 sheets and a chart, saving to HTML from OpenOffice resulted in an HTML file and JPEG of the chart, uploaded and it all looks faaaaaarking wonderful, cheers ed :stu
