Possible Halifax Bank Phishing attack?

Post by 117 »

Just got an email to my hotmail account purporting to be from Halifax Bank (sender: postmaster@halifax.co.uk) - I was immediately suspicious because I don't and never have banked with them, it has a Halifax logo which is actually provided by halifax-online.co.uk - which is a genuine Halifax Online Banking website, after that it has the following text:

afaik the Halifax Online Banking url is .co.uk, not .net, so pretty sure this is a Phishing attempt.

If I had VMWare installed on here I'd have a look on the URL in a safe environment to check it out.

Had a look on the real Halifax website but you can't contact them by email (only phone), so I can't report it

When I received it, I checked out the URL out of interest (I don't bank with halifax) and it was down, Halifax obviously moved quickly!
