A new broadband service offering a connection up to 24 times faster than other providers at less than double the price began a national rollout today.

For ?24 a month customers of broadband provider Be are being offered a download speed of up to 24 megabits a second, three times that available from closest rivals UK Online, Bulldog and Homechoice and 12 times that on offer from BT and Wannadoo.

The bandwidth offered by the new service will be enough to allow consumers to stream two high definition TV channels through their computer simultaneously, while they surf their internet or make voice calls.

The service will also allow customers to upload information onto the internet at a speed of up to 1.3 megabits a second - five times quicker than any other service on the market.

wow, ok so what are they missing out if it's that price? Is it capped (not unlimited?) humm. It also says upto so maybe you wont get that?

Having a quck look at there site it seems good , wonder how good of a service they provide? Anyway, we can't get it

wit broadband it is always 'up to' and they never guarantee speeds because much depends on your distance from the central and the quality of our copper phone line

having said that... Versatel started their 20mb in August over here, combined with a TV package (for football and stuff), they've begun selling it since april or something and the rollout so far is full of troubles. Apparently tens of thousands of subscribers were unable to connect to the internet at all, some have speeds lower than mine (I have 3mb on a good day) some have no tv, some bits of the network aren;t exactly ready for the higher speeds and so on and so forth.

Of course some (a;s tens of thousands) have great speeds great connection great tv but those aren;t typically the ones you hear about

Anyway, to cut a long story short: I'd wait it out a little bit to see if they are actually ready and good to go, or selling a public beta as it were while testing and up[grading the network

not 2mb, you mean broadband althogether. Didn't really care about getting 2, did want 1 though, but then we were upgraded for free to 2 and i wont go back now!
