Buring CD from itunes and tesco music

Post by vinnieza »

I want to burn some songs onto a cd which i brought from itunes and tesco music. Just you cannot convert the protected tesco music into itunes format.

I can play both sorts with winamp. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this, can i use real player or something and still create a playlist of them to burn onto the cd? Or can i burn 1 lot onto the cd then add the others to the end (it's a cd-r).

As you can see i'm a newbie with this :P

you can burn cds using Winamp, just open the media library, stick a blank disc in, create your playlist and drag it to the drive with the disc in within the media library

Q. How many times can I transfer tracks to portable music players or burn them to CD?

A. Each of the record labels that licence us to sell music downloads, specify the number of times that you can play, burn or transfer music files to other players. In general, under the terms of the licence agreement, all of our content can be played as often as you want on your PC, transferred to a mobile player and played as often as you want or burned to a CD up to three times.

Of course, once burnt to a CD, you can play it as often as you want. As an example, if you wish to burn a track to CD more times than you have been given a licence to do, you will need to re-download the track and acquire a new licence.

Unfortunately due to mp3 files being unable to carry licenses you CANNOT burn Tesco download files as MP3s to any portable player.

Can you not just bung the whole lot in Nero? (not talking from experience, as I refuse to pay money to download a DRMd track when I can buy the CD)

Of course, if you're really you could always burn the tesco stuff to CD on it's own, then rip the CD back to the HDD, thus losing the DRM, then you could do what you like with it :)

3.# You can click the burn option, burn to disc then copy to your MP3 player

Yeah you do notice that when flicking through the songs but ah well. Although, is what you download from itunes of the same quality as if you buy a cd anyway? Thought it was 128kbps?

128kbps is supposedly "near-CD" quality. Most people won't be able to tell the difference between that and a proper CD.
It's great for the companies to sell music at a low bitrate because the files are small, and it saves on bandwidth and storage. It's good for the customer, because the files are small and don't take that long to download.

These 128kbps files are perfect when you are using your iPod with its standard crappy white earphones. When you decide that you wanna actually know what music is supposed to sound like, and you invest in some Grado SR-60's or Shure E3c's, you'll understand just how crappy that 128kbps file sounds. Then you'll have to go out, buy the CD and rip it to a lossless format (e.g. Flac) or a higher bitrate.
I use a minimum of 192kbps VBR when ripping to mp3, anything less and i start to tell the difference. Which is why i'll never buy from a online store.

Oh that and the DRM of course.
