Hackers have managed to get Microsoft's Windows XP operating system running on an Apple Mac computer. The success ends a competition started to see if the feat was even possible when Apple unveiled computers that used Intel chips. The pair who managed the feat won $13,854 (?7,895) in prize money for their trouble. The software used to put Windows on the Mac is now being circulated so others can try to replicate the success.

Now I don't know about anyone else, but I don't see the big fuss? I would me more excited if it were the other way around!
Sure, It's a cool hack, but if OSX was on my non mac pc I would be overjoyed!

got VMWare Player now, but can't see the mac os virtual machine to download, have looked on their own virtual machines and the community ones but can't see it?

OSX isn't oficially supported by VMWare but there's a package floating around eMule called "Mac Os X Tiger x86 Vmware". A user manual on how to install it is also included...
